Even with the New York City Marathon on Sunday, the extremely limited LIRR weekend service is not expected to put a damper on Long Island runners or spectators. Mike Polansky, president of the Greater Long Island Running Club, said their hundreds of runners generally take private buses. The MTA advised marathon spectators to use the Babylon, Long Beach or Port Washington branches for direct service to Penn Station while modernization work continues at Jamaica Station.
