A Massachusetts state trooper is charged with OUI and negligent operation of a motor vehicle following a deadly Plymouth car crash.
Off-duty trooper John Basler, 25, of Kingston, will be charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and carrying a firearm while under the influence of liquor, according to Plymouth police.
Basler, who was sworn in as a trooper in March 2012, was off duty last Sunday when he drove head-on into a car driven by Susan Macchi, 64, of Carver and her 23-year-old daughter, Juliet Macchi of Plymouth, killing them both.

The crash happened around midnight, according to police.
