A massive fire broke out at a northern New Jersey recycling plant on Monday night, and firefighters are still working to get the blaze under control.
The fire started inside Sims Metal Management in Jersey City at about 11 p.m., sending plumes of smoke into the night sky that is visible for miles, according to WABC.
Firefighters are battling the raging fire from land and from marine vessels. It has been burning for more than eight hours.
Witnesses told NBC 4 New York that a four-story pile of metal appears to be burning.
According to the company’s website, Sims Metal Management is the world’s largest metals and electronics recycler.
