MBTA trolley accident disrupts Green Line service, injures operator

An MBTA operator was taken to the hospital Saturday after a car allegedly made an illegal left hand turn, causing a collision with a Green line trolley.

An MBTA operator was taken to the hospital Saturday after a car allegedly made an illegal left hand turn, causing a collision with a Green line trolley.

The the crash happened at the intersection of St. Paul Street and Commonwealth Avenue just after 7 p.m. Preliminary reports indicated that a vehicle made an illegal left-hand turn and struck a B Line trolley.

Shuttle buses replaced Green Line trolleys between Packards Corner and Blandford, and regular service resumed around 8:30 p.m.

An update on the operator's condition was not immediately available, and it is not clear if the motorist was cited.
