Police recently posted surveillance photos of the woman online in an attempt to identify her.
According to police, the woman said she was sexually assaulted late last month by a Medford man. Based on the detailed statement she provided, police arrested the man.
However, after a follow-up investigation, police determined that the woman lied about the assault and her identity. They then released the man from custody.
