Don’t own an iPad, Boston residents? Well you could soon have access to one.

Mayor Thomas Menino submitted his Fiscal Year 2014 budget Wednesday and it includes funding for a new city iPad lending program for residents.

“This is the 20th proposed budget of my administration and it shares a most important trait with the prior 19: it pushes us to try new things,” Menino said in a statement.

The iPad lending program is part of Menino’s effort at “modernizing the resident experience.” That effort includes initatives that will result in 10,000 mobile computing devices for students, blended learning courses for residents at community centers and the iPad program. Digital learning will be a central theme at the city’s public schools, libraries and Center for Youth & Families.

The $2.6 billion budget is an increase of $138.7 million over last year.
