PORT WASHINGTON – Nassau County Republicans expect Jack Martins, their candidate for the 7th District State Senate, will hold off any absentee ballot push by incumbent state Sen. Craig Johnson (D-Port Washington). Martins, the mayor of Mineola, led Johnson by 415 votes yesterday. Winning the seat is critical to the Republicans’ effort to retake the state Senate. A final tally is awaited in the coming weeks.
