Mineola votes on fate of neighborhood schools

The future of the Mineola school district will come before a vote today as residents consider a $6.7 million bond proposal to expand some schools while closing others.

MINEOLA – The future of the Mineola school district will come before a vote today as residents consider a $6.7 million bond proposal to expand some schools while closing others. According to Newsday, district officials claim that closing two or three smaller neighborhood elementary schools could save the district $44 million over 10 years.
