The 98-year-old West Oak Lane man who suffered from dementia and was reported missing after he didn’t return from an errand run died in a New York car crash, police said.


Frank Winfrey, of the 7100 block of North 19th Street, was killed in the accident inRoslyn Heights, Nassau County, police said. He reportedlyleft his home about 2:30 p.m. yesterday and did not return, police said.


Winfrey, who drove a burgundy 1995 Chevy Tahoe, suffered from the debilitating disease that affects memory, thinking, language and judgement.
