If Philadelphia residents want to vote in the May primary, which includes a vote for a new City Council member, today is the deadline to register.
On May 20, voters will choose a new at-large City Council person and a Democratic nominee to challenge incumbent Gov. Tom Corbett, among others, in the Pennsylvania governor primary election.
Voters are required to register with a party in the state in order to cast a vote in May.
Online registration is not available, but information about where to register can be found at VotesPA.com.
Former City Councilman Bill Green stepped down in March to assume the role as chair of the state's School Reform Commission, which overseas Philadelphia schools. He left his seat vacant with two years remaining on his term.
