Montco man smuggled pirated movies into U.S.: DOJ

A Lafayette Hill, Montgomery County man was indicted after he allegedly smuggled more than 6,000 copies of pirated movies and television shows into the country, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

 

Brian Bethman is accused of sneaking the copyright-protected goods into the U.S. between April 2010 and April 2011. Television show titles include "House," "Criminal Minds," "NCIS," "Weeds," "The Office," and "Royal Pains."

 

 

Movie titles included "Justified," "The Pacific," "Dead Like Me," and "Bambi."

Bethman is charged with seven counts of smuggling goods into the United States, one count of trafficking to counterfeit labels and one count of criminal copyright infringement.

If convicted, he could face a maximum of 30 years in prison.
