Mother to face charges after child found sleeping in elevator

A 5-year-old boy was found sleeping in an elevator of a Roxbury apartment building overnight and the child’s parents were no where to be found.

The sleeping boy was found by a person inside the building at 225 Blue Hill Ave. about 11 p.m., police said. Officers, after finding the boy, could not locate the child’s parents.

Officers tried to wake the child, but could not, so he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Shortly after that, officers were able to identify the child as well as his mother, but his mother could not be located by police.

As of this morning, police said no one has come forward.

The child’s mother will be summonsed to court on charged of child endangerment and abandonment of a child under 10 years old.

The Department of Children and Families was notified.
