Grades are in for MTA Chairman Jay Walder as he marks his first year at the helm of the troubled agency, the Daily News reported. Transit and fiscal experts gave Walder As and Bs for eliminating waste, in answer to the newspaper’s request for marks, but Gene Russianoff of the Straphangers Campaign spoke for many riders by slamming Walder with Fs on service improvements. “This June, riders were socked with the harshest service cuts in decades,” he said, adding that the MTA’s finances are “like the Titanic, only worse.”
