MTA on NJ 7 train: Not so fast

MANHATTAN – MTA chairman Jay Walder said yesterday the idea of a 7 train that runs to New Jersey is “very exciting,” but finishing the MTA’s existing capital projects, like the Second Avenue subway and Long Island Rail Road access to Grand Central, must come first. “There is no money in our capital program for any mega projects beyond the three that are under way,” said Walder. “And that capital program already has a large funding gap.”
