Witnesses told them they saw the suspect, a 25-year-old black man, flee the apartment towards the roof. They followed him up to the roof and watched him jump off the building, just under the Williamsburg Bridge.
When EMS workers responded to the scene, both the man, Efriam Gabourel, 26, and the woman, Liliana Belfor, 29, were pronounced dead.
Gabourel lived in the Roebling Street apartment. Belfor lived in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn. The two were dating, said police.
