A North Philadelphia shooting left one man critical this afternoon – and resulted in a police-related car accident as a cruiser sped to the scene.

A man, 22, was shot twice in the back on the 3600 block of Germantown Avenue around 12:30 p.m. and taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. No arrests have yet been made.

While responding to the incident, 25th District officers were traveling northbound on 10th Street with lights and sirens when they were struck on the passenger side by a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria driving westbound on Indiana Avenue, causing the police to careen into a parked Cadillac Escalade.

The driver of the Crown Victoria, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to Temple University Hospital with left arm pain.

No police officers were injured.
