Federal investigators are scouring a New Bedford landfill in the hope of uncovering evidence in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings.

The Crapo Hill landfill rests on the border of New Bedford and Dartmouth, and is a few miles from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving terror suspect, was a sophomore.

Sources told NBC-7 that about a dozen investigators are carefully combing through trash to find receipts for pressure cookers or fireworks - anything that might indicate the construction of a home made bomb.

An FBI spokesperson did not confirm the search today, but said, “We are conducting searches in many locations as part of a far-reaching investigation.”
