New plan to boost students

Boston Superintendent Dr. Carol Johnson will propose a plan tonight to provide access to a high-quality education for every student by expanding seats in the most successful programs. The district has failed to overhaul its school-assignment plan because of opposition from parents in poor neighborhoods. They argue their schools should be improved before they lose the opportunity to send their children to better schools.
