New poll puts Cuomo firmly ahead in gov race

One day, he’s down, the next he’s up.

A new Siena College poll out today has Attorney General and Democratic nominee Andrew Cuomo far ahead of GOP rival Carl Paladino in the New York governor’s race.

Cuomo leads with 57% of registered voters saying they’d choose him, compared to 24% for Paladino. Conservative party candidate Rick Lazio trailed far behind with 8%.

This new poll is a stark reversal from a Quinnipiac poll out yesterday that had Cuomo ahead of Paladino by only a slim 6-point lead.

There are still 40 days until the Nov. 2 election. A Marist poll is due out Friday that will also show Cuomo firmly in the lead, according to Marist polling director Lee Miringoff.
