New York City: ‘No. 1’ target for Iranian terrorists

Mitchell Silber, director of intelligence analysis for the NYPD, said New York is essentially the number-one target for a terrorist attack after three international bomb plots were linked to Iran this week.

The explosions occurring over Monday and Tuesday went off in Bangkok, Thailand and New Delhi, injured four people and blew off a terrorist’s leg, according to the New York Daily News. Another bomb plot in Tbilisi, Georgia was intercepted by authorities on Monday without any injuries.

“Iran is the subject of the vast majority of our discussions right now,” Silber said. “This, right now, is a front-burner issue. I hesitate to say it’s No. 1, because we don’t want to ignore the other threats, but right now, it’s essentially No. 1.”
