NEW YORK. Sailor and artist Reid Stowe ended his record 1,152-day journey at sea on Thursday at Pier 81 on Manhattan’s West Side where he met his 23-month-old son for the first time.

Stowe, 58, set sail from Hoboken, N.J., aboard the 70-foot schooner “Anne” three years ago with his girlfriend, Soanya Ahmad, 23, who had never been at sea. After 10 months, she couldn’t escape seasickness — it turned out she was pregnant.

Ahmad disembarked near Australia and returned to her Queens apartment, eventually giving birth to a son, Darshen. Now Stowe plans to sail his reunited family around U.S. waterways.
