An electronic music festival that was shut down last year after drug overdoses killed two people is lobbying to return to Randalls Island this year, the Daily News reports.
Organizers of the Electric Zoo are seeking a Parks Department permit to hold the event again over Labor Day weekend after last year's much-criticized festival saw one sexual assault, 31 arrests, and six overdoses — two of them lethal.
EZ Festivals LLC hired high-powered lobbyists to make their case, includingMike McKeon of Mercury Public Affairs.
