A Staten Island man has been charged after he tried to sell his girlfriend’s newborn on Craigslist for $100, authorities said on Monday.

Paul Marquez, 22, allegedly placed the ad under the “Baby and Kids” section of the site, The New York Daily News reports. The ad included his phone number, his girlfriend’s name and a picture of the baby.

“Heyy I have a 2 month old baby,” the ad read. “She loves to play nd have her little fun but there is only 1 problem, the doctor said that she has asthma nd if she turns a certain way she can stop breathing, she’s really getting on my nerves nd I don’t want her.”

Marquez was apparently upset that his girlfriend, Katie Devalle, 19, was too busy to pay enough attention to him.

He admitted that he did it all to “get back at Katie,” a source told the News.

At least one person actually responded to the ad. Marquez gave Devalle’s phone number to the person, who then called the mom and offered to buy the infant. Police are investigating whether the caller was serious.

Marquez was arraigned last week for violation of a social services law, aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He was being held on $1,000 bail.

Two people reported the ad to police, according to the News.
