U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm denied reports Tuesday that he had sexual relations with a woman in a handicapped bathroom of a Brooklyn wine bar last month.

The Republican congressman representing parts of Staten Island and Brooklyn rejected reports that he spent up to 17 minutes with the woman at The Owl's Head bathroom in Bay Ridge.

"This never happened and I will not dignify this absurd distortion of the facts with a response, except to say that this is nothing more than a typical Democrat-led smear campaign," Grimm said in a statement released to reporters Tuesday night.

The rumors began flying after Brooklyn Magazine issued a report alleging the congressman, who is single, disappeared into a bathroom at a constituent bar with a woman the Friday before the government shutdown.

Witnesses told the magazine Grimm smacked the woman's behind multiple times.
