NYPD: Argument about dance battle sparks attack in Gramercy Park

An argument about a dance battle last month in Manhattan caused a punching attack that left one man with a broken jaw and fractured eye socket, police said.

An argument about a dance battle last month in Manhattan caused a punching attack that left one man with a broken jaw and fractured eye socket, police said.

The suspect was talking to an 18-year-old man about a dance competition on the corner of Third Avenue and East 23rd Street in Gramercy Park around 9:40 p.m. May 10 when he began punching the other young man in the face, according to the NYPD.

The suspect then fled the scene, police said.

The 18-year-old was taken to Bellevue Hospital and treated for abrasions to his head in addition to thebroken jaw and fractured eye socket, the NYPD said.

Police descried the suspect as an Asian man in his late teens or early twenties.

Surveillance footage of the suspect shows him walking with another man on a sidewalk, according to the NYPD.
