Occupy Wall Street has taken up a new cause, reports The Brooklyn Paper: gentrifying—er, the gentrification of Bushwick.
A group of former OWSers have founded "the Base," a library and venue on Stockholm Street. They are reportedly planning on bringing together "the people who are moving here for cheap rent and the people have lived here forever" to take action in slowing down the neighborhood's rising cost of living.
The Brooklyn Paper apparently found the Base to be "very disorganized," an amalgamation of different groups and parties that are uncommunicative among themselves and with press.
The website for the space lists a series of boxing lessons and a lecture on social movements.
