An off-duty NYPD detective caught a robber in the act at a Chinatown jewelry store Tuesday afternoon.

Detective Patrick Lee observed a commotion outside of Canal Diamonds International around 4:20 p.m.

After hearing a bystander call "Robbery, robbery" in Cantonese, Lee entered the jewelry store and saw an armed man holding jewelry.

After identifying himself as an officer, Lee was able to take Eduardo Olmedo, 25, into custody without incident.

Eighteen gold chains and a 40-caliber Glock were recovered from Olmedo.

Cops charged him with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
