Off-duty police officer injured in Upper Holmesburg car crash

Police said a car crash at State Road and Ashburner Street in Upper Holmesburg injured two men, one of them an off-duty police officer.

Two men are hospitalized –one of them an off-duty police officer – after a two-vehicle car crash Saturday night in Upper Holmesburg.

 

Officers responded around 11:40 p.m. to State Road and Ashburner Street, where they found two cars had collided.

 

Police said one car was driving south on State Road and the second was traveling east on Asbhurner Street when the two vehicles crashed at the intersection.

 

Traffic lights at the intersection were flashing yellow in the north and southbound lanes and red in the east and westbound lanes, according to investigators.

The driver of the first car, a male off-duty police officer of an unknown age, was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale for observation and treatment.

The driver of the second car, also a male of an unknown age, was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale, where he was placed in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
