An off-duty Massachusetts State Police trooper made a significant Oxy drug bust when he decided to pull over a car while on his way home from work this weekend.

State police said that Trooper Ryan Dolan was commuting home along Interstate 495 in Littleton when he stopped a car for motor vehicle violations at about 7:40 a.m. Saturday. State police did not specify for which violations the car was pulled over.

When Dolan approached the car, he saw a large bag of pills on the floor near where the passenger was seated. The bag contained about 1,700 Oxycodon pills, police said.

At that point, the passenger, Jonathon Rivera, 31, from the Bronx, N.Y., was arrested. Police found about $1,400 on Rivera and held it as evidence.

Rivera was charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws and drug trafficking. He will be arraigned Tuesday.
