A woman was hurt Thursday during an altercation with a man who allegedly tried to steal her phone at Tufts Medical Center MBTA station, according to transit police.

 

The woman was allegedly approached by Joaquin Armaiz, 43, of Boston, around 7:40 p.m. Thursday as she walked through the station. Armaiz allegedly demanded her cell phone, and when she refused, a struggle ensued which caused the woman to fall down a flight of stairs and scrape her face.

 

She managed to hold onto her phone, according to police, and Armaiz was arrested after fleeing to the corner of Tremont and Boylston Street.

 

He was charged with assault to rob (unarmed).
