FASTRACK, the new MTA repair program that shuts down a large swath of subway overnight for four consecutive evenings, is moving west.
Beginning Monday, Feb 13, the 1 and 2 line will be shut down from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., bringing Seventh Avenue service between 34th Street-Penn Station and Atlantic Avenue to a standstill in both directions every evening until Feb. 17th.
Service on the entire 3-train line will be completely suspended, but free shuttle buses will operate to and from three stations at 148th, 145th and 135th streets. To help riders get around next week, the MTA will also be running the 42nd Street S shuttle through the night on those evenings.
The MTA first shut down the 4,5,6 for four weeknights last month as part of FASTRACK, a program that riders abhor and the MTA adores. The MTA said the program saved them about $600,000 in maintenance costs.
