Pedestrian killed on Queens service road after car jumps curb

Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by car that jumped the curb on a Queens service road Monday afternoon.

Michael Munoz, 42, was walking on the sidewalk of the Whitestone Expressway service road when a Toyota Camry jumped the curb and hit him around 2:45 p.m.

Emergency personnel took Munoz, a College Point resident, to New York Hospital Queens, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 78-year-old driver of the Camry and a passenger sustained only minor injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
