A person was killed in North BerwickSaturday night after being struck by a Portland, Maine-bound Amtrak train traveling from Boston.

Patricia Quinn of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority told the AP that the Amtrak Downeaster was carrying about 100 passengers when it struck the victim around 7 p.m. Saturday near the Route 9 overpass.
An Amtrak spokeswoman told the Portland Press Herald that the collision happened on a section of track where there is no crossing and the maximum speed for the train would be 60 miles-per-hour.
Authorities have not released any information about the victim.
