Philadelphia police officer under investigation for fatal collision

The Philadelphia Police Department is reportedly investigating one of its own for the officer's involvement in a fatal collision in Holmesburg over the weekend.
The officer may have been drinking prior to the deadly collision, which happened about 11:40 p.m. Sept. 14 at State Road and Ashburner Street,6ABC Action News reports.
The 54-year-old police officer was driving south on State Road in a silver Dodge Challenger when he hit the side of a van heading east on Ashburner Street, the report states. The intersection had flashing yellow lights for north-south traffic and flashing red lights for east-west traffic.
The van's driver died from his injuries yesterday at Aria Health-Torresdale.
The officer was also taken to Aria for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
