Worried about your wheels getting stolen?
The Philadelphia Police Department and partners Pennsylvania Auto Theft Prevention Authority and AAA Mid-Atlantic want to help you protect your car from thieves.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, the Police Department's Major Crimes Auto Squad and First District will join its partners in offering free VIN, or vehicle-identification number, etching.

VIN etching is like tattooing your car's windows with its VIN number. While barely noticeable, police promise it's something the thieves will notice and more than likely cause them to move onto the next target, as VIN etching reduces the potential resale value of a car for thieves.
All you need to do is show up at Quartermasters Plaza, at 2600 Oregon Ave., with your car and the vehicle's current registration card, your driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.
