A police officer was arrested today in connection with an investigation regarding potential domestic abuse.
Joseph Griffin, an 8-year veteran of the force currently assigned to the 3rd District, surrendered today and was placed under arrest for an incident in which he allegedly physically assaulted his wife, police said. He is currently being processed by police.
Griffin is accused of threatening and assaulting his wife on June 4 in their Northeast Philadelphia home, according to the D.A.'s office.
Griffin is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment, intimidation of a victim, and recklessly endangering another person.
The Internal Affairs Department and the Philadelphia D.A.'s office investigated the case.
Griffin has been suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
