A full week after Hurricane Sandy Devastated New York City, residents of Staten Island are still struggling to pick up the pieces.
Midland Beach is on the southeastern side of the island, a neighborhood where many have lost nearly everything. In spite of all this, the community has come together in a very big way.
Parking lots, sidewalks and community centers are filled with goods for those in need. On almost every corner hot food is being served, or assistance being offered. The main slogan that’s on everyone’s mind: “You won’t bring us down Sandy!”
