With Mayor Michael Nutter on his way home from China, First Lady Lisa Nutter lit the Love Park Christmas tree tonight to kick off the holiday season.
The event featured performances by several musical guests, including bassist Gerald Veasley and Grammy-nominated recording artist Frankie Negron.
This year's tree is a 38-foot tall artificial tree with LED lights. Mrs. Nutter flipped the switch at about 6 p.m. City Representative Melanie Johnson served as the emcee.
This is the second consecutive year the tree has stood in the Love Park fountain while construction takes place at Dilworth Plaza.
