‘Tis the season to dress up in holiday costumes and go for a run.

Thousands of runners, many in holiday-themed costumes, turned out on Sunday for the annual Jingle Bell Run in Somerville.

The popular event, put on by Marathon Sports, attracted more than 3,300 runners who started and ended the 5K race in Davis Square. This year’s Jingle Bell Run reached its maximum registration.

The race was originally scheduled for Dec. 15, but with that weekend’s snowstorm covering Greater Boston in inches of snow, the race was moved to Sunday morning.

Following the race, runners could visit one, some or all of the 17 bars for a post-race party sponsored by Harpoon Brewery.
