When Metro learned of the new pour-over coffee method gaining steam, we thought, what the cup?
Our first instinct was to find a regular Joe (get it?) to take a blind taste test, comparing a pour-over cup and deli java. Would they be able to tell the difference? For completely unscientific purposes, we added a cup of instant coffee and regular brew to the taste test too.
Brooklynite Greg Hanlon was up to the task. “I’ve had about 40,000 cups of coffee in my life,” Hanlon said, amped up for the challenge.
So, we gathered up the varieties, blindfolded Hanlon, and asked him to guzzle four cups of coffee.
After just a few sips, Hanlon was able to identify each kind of coffee. We were impressed.
But how did pour-over fare? Just above instant. Here is Hanlon’s ranking:
