Pickpockets distracted woman by talking about her baby: Police
Police are looking for a man who allegedly took money from a woman's pocketbook while his two female accomplices distracted her with talk of her baby.
The NYPD reported a theft in a Queens bank by a trio of pickpockets who allegedly used their victim's baby in their scheme.
The robbery occurred Oct. 2, police said, about 1 p.m. at the Astoria Federal Savings Bank on 108 Street in Forest Hills.
A 54-year-old woman was exiting the bank with a baby, when two women estimated to be in their mid-20s came up to her and started chatting to her about the child.
While she was distracted, a third accomplice, described by police as a man in his early 20s, took money from her pocketbook.
Police are requesting that anyone with information about these three suspects call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
