The U.S. House of Representatives voted last week to strip federal funding for the group’s programs, like sex education and HIV testing.

NYC president Joan Malin said the cuts would slash two-thirds of the New York budget.

“It’s just an outrageous attack,” she told Metro.

Federal funds are not allowed for abortion, but the bill would strip key services, like cancer screenings, counseling and city sex education programs.

In a city where the abortion rate is twice the national average, the group says their efforts to prevent abortion — like family planning — are vital.

Mayor Michael Bloom­berg joined a conference call yesterday to vouch for the group’s role in the city.
