GREAT NECK – Police yesterday announced a break in the case of a man suspected in five recent burglaries.
Authorities released a photo of a suspect and said DNA from a hat connected the man to the kidnapping and rape of a 2-year-old girl in Laredo, Texas.
The same man, police say, robbed five houses in Great Neck between Dec. 12, 2010, and Jan. 2, when he assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
Surveillance photos were taken of the suspect purchasing a soda at a Hempstead Home Depot, where police say he followed a woman home in July to help with a plumbing problem and hit her in the head with a hammer when she complained about the work.
Those with any information are encouraged to call a 800-244-TIPS.
