A 41-year-old man was arrested after he suffocated his quadriplegic girlfriend in the bathtub of their Brooklyn apartment on Sunday, police said.

Responding to a request for a wellness check about 7:30 a.m., police discovered 32-year-old Marissa Torres in the bathroom of the apartment on Clymer Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Angelo Sanchez has been charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child. The couple’s 2-year-old son was inside the home at the time of the killing, The New York Post reports.

Sources told the Post that Sanchez was high on crack at the time and that he had about 25 prior arrests since 1988, mostly for drugs.

Sanchez may have suffocated Torres with a towel and then placed her in the bathtub in an attempt to revive her, the Post reported.
