A burglary suspect shot and killed himself Saturday afternoon as he fled the scene of an alleged crime, according to Delaware State Police.
Investigators said the 45-year-old Greenwood, Del. man, whose identity is not being released because of the apparent suicide, around 2 p.m.broke into an unoccupied home on the 700 block of Coon Den Road in Harrington.
While the suspect was inside, the homeowner returned and confronted him, according to authorities.
That's when the man allegedly fled the home with several stolen handguns, running into a wooded area at the property's rear.
Delaware State Police K-9s and an Aviation Helicopter Trooper launched a search for the suspect, eventually locating himin the woods.

Investigators said the suspect sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head from one of the handguns that was taken.
He died at the scene.
The Chief Medical Examiner was on Sunday performing an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of the man's death.
