Police: Delaware man arrested for trying to stab wife to death

Delaware State Police on Sunday arrested a Georgetown man for allegedly trying to stab his wife to death during a domestic dispute.

Investigators said the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center received a call from a residence on the 12000 block of Seashore Highway shortly before 8:15 p.m.that Albert Norman, 52, had stabbed his 37-year-old wife.

Responding troopers found the victim had been stabbed multiple times in the upper torso.She was rushed to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where she underwent surgery and is listed in serious but stable condition.

Detectives questioned the victim and the couple's children.

The investigation allegedly revealed Norman and his wife were talking about ending their relationship when Norman "suddenly began stabbing" the woman in the back with a knife.

The children, aged 14 and 15, were able to intervene, allowing their mother to escape to a neighbor's house, according to authorities.

Police said Norman went to the neighbor's house and tried to find his wife,allegedly threatening to stab the 57-year-old homeowner as well, before fleeing the area in his car.

Norman drove himself to Troop 4 in Georgetown, where he turned himself in.

He was arraigned and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, as well as one count each of first-degree attempted murder, aggravated menacing, making terroristic threats and possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

Norman is being held without bail at the Sussex Correctional Institution.
