Police were searching this weekend for the person who shot two teens, one fatally, at a basketball court on the Jamaica Plain/Roxbury border.
Jaewon Martin, a 14-year-old Boston middle school student, was shot about 3:40 p.m. Saturday while at the court near the Bromley-Heath housing development.
“It’s a little frightening,” said 16-year-old Biruk Sirmollo, who was playing basketball on the court Sunday afternoon. “He was a human being. Not even an animal should be killed like that. His age doesn’t matter.”
Another teen was also hit by the gunfire, but was expected to survive, police said. Grief counselors will be available today at Martin’s school, a public schools spokesman said.
It was the city’s 21st homicide of the year.
