Police announced today that they are seeking a person in connection with the death of a pregnant woman gunned down last week, in what may have been retaliation for an earlier murder outside a Popeye's.
Jasmine Williams, 25, who was 8 months pregnant, was fatally shot around 1 a.m. on September 24 while outside a deli at 20th and Nedro streets in Logan.
Her baby was delivered but died an hour later.
Williams' boyfriend, Kord Rozier, 26, was also shot and critically injured during the same shooting.
Today, police announced that Rozier was charged on Saturday with the murder of Kenneth Woods, 42, who was fatally shot on the afternoon of Sept. 23 around 4 p.m. outside a Popeye's Chicken at Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue in what police say was a robbery.
Woods was shot in the chest.
A civilian brought him to the Temple Hospital emergency room and dropped him off there. Woods was pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m.
Reports say that the murder of Williams and shooting of Rozier may have been retaliation for Woods' murder.
In addition to Rozier, Megan Jones, 20, of Blue Bell, Pa., was arrested last Friday and also charged with Woods' murder.
Police issued a warrant for a third suspect, Markese Martin, in connection with Woods' death.
But homicide investigators also consider Martin a "person of interest" in the death of Williams, police said.
Tipsters can call homicide at 215-686-3068, 215-686-3334 or 911.
Williams' murder was the second murder of a pregnant woman and their unborn child within two weeks of each other.
