Police: Intoxicated woman leaves baby outside in shopping cart

Bensalem Police arrested a woman yesterday for leaving her baby alone in a shopping cart outside in 35 degree weather.

Loretta Hall, 30, allegedly left her one-year-old baby girl in the cart on a grassy area separating an apartment complex from a shopping center because she was drunk and high on pills, police said.

Two residents of the Bucks Meadows Apartments on Knights Road found the baby crying around 7:30 a.m. yesterday and walked around the complex until they found Hall, according to police. Police said the baby was “very cold to the touch.” Shewas treated at St. Mary Medical Center and taken into custody by the Bucks County Children and Youth Social Services Agency.

Investigators said Hall was visibly intoxicated and admitted to drinking alcohol and taking Klonopin pills Saturday night into Sunday morning. She was sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of $50,000 bail and is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses.
