Police investigate indecent assault in South Boston

Police are hunting for a man who assaulted a woman in South Boston early Monday morning.

About 12:45 a.m. officers responded to a report of an indecent assault and battery in the area of Athens and Dorchester streetsin South Boston.

The victim told police that the man came up from behind her, and she was then indecently assaulted, according to Boston Police.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction. He is described as a male, 5 feet 11 inches tall with a heavy build, large stomach and wearing a T-shirt.

This summer, a string of violent assaults on women in the area put the neighborhood on high alert: 24-year-old Amy Lord was kidnapped from her South Boston neighborhood and murdered. The suspect in that case,Edward Alemany, was charged in her disappearance in July.
